  • The deputies of the Verkhovna Rada believe that the coalition failed to reach the declared objectives and fulfill the coalition agreement. EU Ambassador to Ukraine Tombinski argues that the problem is an imbalance between the branches of power, imperfect electoral system and the lack of zero tolerance to the corruption.
  • The Court of Appeal confirmed that the announcement of the opposition bloc candidate  Vilkul as a mayor of Krivoy Rog is legitimate and the data on fraud should be considered in criminal proceedings.
  • Prime Minister Yatsenyuk says that the situation with the reserves of coal at power plants is catastrophic. Energy Ministry said that Ukraine has accumulated more coal than last year. Minister Demchishin believes that the power generation industry will be able to successfully pass the winter season, the fuel at nuclear power plants will last until September 2016. Coal reserves will last for a month, during this period deliveries of coal from South Africa will begin. DNR militant’s leader Zakharchenko said he is ready to unlock the supply of coal from the occupied territory of Donbass in exchange for stopping of energy blockade of Crimea.
  • The Supervisory Board of the company "Ukrnafta" changed the members of the Board.
  • Ukrtransgaz said that all applications for transport of the gas to Europe are carried out in full, transmission system is almost half loaded, more than 200 million m3 of natural gas  is pumped daily.
  • The Commission has selected two candidates for the position of anti-corruption prosecutor - "Cyborg" (Donetsk Airport defender) Grischuk and prosecutor Golodnitsky. One of them must be approved by the Prosecutor General Shokin.
  • The Ministry of Finance has urged international lenders to agree to the terms of restructuring of Kyiv Eurobonds.

  • According to official reports Ukrainian army suffered no losses during the fighting in the Donbass. Militants tried to conduct reconnaissance in the vicinity of Donetsk.
  • Two Russian soldiers detained by border guards at the checkpoint Melovoye in the Luhansk region were returned to Russia.
  • Activists blocking the Crimea said they would not be allowed maintenance crews to restore power transmission line towers on the weekend to supply electricity to the peninsula.
  • Long queues builds up daily at the checkpoints to the occupied territory of Donbass, people are forced to spend the night in the cold. Social activists say that the authorities are doing nothing to eliminate corruption at checkpoints and facilitate the movement of people in spite of the constant provocations and attacks by militants.

Ukraine and the World

  • Ukroboronprom Director General Romanov said that Ukraine will work together with Turkey on the creation of modern means of protection of the waters and land borders.
  • During the speech of Speaker of the Russian State Duma Naryshkin at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Bucharest the Ukrainian delegates demanded to stop the aggression and return of the Crimea. Naryshkin said that Russia has the right for a military response to Turkey after the destruction of the Russian bomber. Media and MEPs from Romania firmly criticized the government's decision to allow the Russian politician under European sanctions at the international forum.
  • The Turkish president called on the Kremlin "not to play with fire" and prevent the deterioration of relations between the two countries. Russia has decided to cancel the free visa regime with Turkey. Russian President Putin refused to schedule a meeting with Erdogan on Climate Forum in Paris because of the unwillingness of the Turkish leadership to apologize for the downed aircraft.
  • Ambassador Payette said the US will continue to assist Ukraine in reforming the judicial system.

The Trends


  • The members of the Commission on Elections of the Anticorruption Prosecutor allege that both selected candidates will be able to adequately perform their work. Prosecutor General protege Gowda was not selected as an applicant as well as the main candidate,  Prosecutor Kasko, who according to the public could lead cases against senior officials.
