  • President Poroshenko appointed Deputy Head of his Administration Chalyi as an ambassador to the United States.

The share of troubled loans could increase from 45% to 60% by the end of the year. The agency's analysts forecast the loss ratio of the banking system of the country for several more years.
  • The official hryvnia exchange rate continues to decline: 21.92 UAH/USD (+0.07 UAH), 24.51 UAH/EUR (+0,36 UAH), 3.87 UAH/RUR 10 (+0.04 UAH). From the beginning of the week hryvnia lost more than 5% of its value against dollar and euro.

  • The situation in the combat zone remains tense, militants are shelling and attacking the Ukrainian army positions and settlements, including the territories under their own control, pretending that these are attacks of the Ukrainian army.
    According to the official reports, during the day, two soldiers were killed and  10 were wounded.
    Defense Ministry spokesman said that from the beginning of the Anti-Terrorist Operation  1,930 soldiers of the Ukrainian army were killed.
  • An exchange of militants on 10 Ukrainian soldiers took place. According to the  President representative on resolving of the conflict in the Donbass, the militants continue to hold 245 Ukrainian military.

Ukraine and the World

  • The official website of President Poroshenko informs that the leaders of France and Germany stand for the withdrawal of 100-mm weapons from the fighting line in the Donbass. They insist on inclusion to the Constitution of Ukraine of the provisions on the special status of the occupied territories in accordance with the Minsk Agreement.
  • Russian President Putin does not understand why Ukraine does not negotiate directly with the representatives of the self-proclaimed republics, although "it were partners from Kiev" who insisted that DPR and LPR leaders were invited to Minsk .
  • On July 15, Brussels will host the first meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Committee consisting of deputy ministers for European integration. The purpose of the committee is to establish direct contacts and discuss the sectoral cooperation.

The Trends


  • Newly appointed ambassador to the US Chalyi believes that the West did not define its position regarding the violations  of the Minsk Agreement by Russia, moreover, Europe insists on unilateral implementation of these Agreements by Ukraine, as it is unable to influence Russia. He believes that the issue of deployment of peacekeeping forces in the Donbass was not removed from the agenda. Experts are convinced that this decision is surely to be blocked by Russia at the UN Security Council.
