  • After replacement of the election commission members in the city of Mariupol, the representatives of the democratic parties  claimed about removal from the commission of their representatives and preparation of massive fraud in favor of the Opposition Blok. The democratic forces warned that they are ready to take up arms to defend the city.
  • General  Attorney Shokin claimed that the case of the shooting of activists of the Maidan was "practically investigated," despite the fact that most of the evidence was destroyed. Investigators managed to build a chain of people involved in crimes. At the head of the pyramid is former president of Yanukovych.
    Shokin said that in March 2016 the EU can lift the sanctions against former President Yanukovych and his entourage, but the sanctions may be extended by their absentee convictions. According to him, the trial of former member of the Party of Regions Efremov will begin shortly.
  • In the Odessa region, due to the storm  the  "Ivolga" motor boat sank, it had 36 passengers on board, 12 of them could not be saved, the search for two more continues. Head of the Odessa regional administration Saakashvili said that the tragedy was caused by the overloading of the boat and announced October 18 a day of mourning.

  • The Headquarters of the Anti-Terrorist operation declare about an "exemplary observance of the ceasefire." However, as a result of shelling of the Ukrainian positions  by the militants in the neigbourhood of Donetsk one soldier was wounded.
    The DPR militants claimed that the withdrawal of tanks and artillery is delayed for three days.

  • The EU Service for External Relations explained that the sanctions against Russia were imposed for violation by Russia of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, illegal annexation of the Crimea and Sevastopol, infiltration of armed militants and supplying of arms from the Russian territory to Ukraine.
  • German Chancellor Merkel said that in order to attract German investments, Ukraine should create the proper legal conditions, to limit the influence of the oligarchs and to fight corruption.
  • European countries continue to independently deal with the flow of the illegal migrants. Following Hungary, Slovenia involved the army to protect its borders.
