  • Chairman of the Donetsk regional civilian-military administration Zhebrivskyi promised to get the near-front zone under control in the nearest future and punish servicemen of the security agencies, who provide a crime-sponsored cover for smuggling and transit of drugs.   • Militants intensified shellfire of Ukrainian positions in Donetsk area. Dozens of times they used heavy artillery and tanks which were being recorded during the day. According to the Joint Center for Monitoring and Coordination of the ceasefire, a burial facility for radioactive wastes in the suburbs of Donetsk, which is under the militants’ control, might have been damaged and caused radioactive contamination in consequence of the recent explosion.
    Settlements in Luhansk region and Shyrokine near Mariupol also were attacked and shelled by militants’ hybrid army.
    According to official reports two soldiers were killed and six wounded during the last day.

Ukraine and the World

  • Georgian President Margelashvili at a security conference GLOBSEC said that Russia considers the former Soviet Union countries as its territorial domain where it has the right to use military force.
  • Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linkyavichus said that sanctions are only one of the ways of taking effect on Russia. In his view, these measures are insufficient and it is required political isolation of the aggressor. He is convinced that Lithuania needs a massive presence of US troops on Lithuanian territory to protect the national sovereignty.
  • PEN American Center opposed the unjustified blocking by the social network Facebook users’ profiles of Ukrainian and Russian segments, that acted against the aggressive policy of Russia, and demanded to restore all deleted content.
  • Secretary of Russian Security Council Patrushev said that Russia could not prevent the "volunteers" willing to fight in the Donbass, but did not welcome this.
  • US Secretary of Defense Carter said that Russia would remain a menace to the West, regardless of whether it is headed by President Putin or not.

  • Cancellation of the bus traffic to the occupied territories of Donbass caused an extremely negative reaction from the IDPs. They demand to abolish it and are ready to held the rallies against it and to sue the officials who adopt the rules.
