Key Events of Ukraine

  • The Interior Ministry arrested 46 property units and enterprises owned by the oligarch Firtash company Ostchem.
  • The start date for the introduction of the new patrol service in Kiev was announced - it is the 4th of July.

Ukraine at War

  • During the day, Ukrainian positions in Maryinka, Shyrokine and Schastya were shelled. In the sea, not far from Mariupol, the coast guard motor boat trapped a mine. One of the coast guards was killed and five were wounded, the captain is considered missing.
  • In Schastya the OSCE mission and the joint center on ceasefire monitoring observers came under militants mortars fire.

Ukraine and the World

  • In Germany, a two-day Summit of the G7 opened, this time without Russia after its exclusion from the participants list due to the annexation of the Crimea and aggression in the Donbass. The first statements of the "Big Seven" leaders indicate that the sanctions against Russia will be prolonged, and its return to the world elite club in the nearest time is impossible.
  • In his interview before the Summit, President Poroshenko stressed again that there is no alternative to the Minsk Agreements to settle the conflict in the Donbass.
  • The US Department of State confirms that Russia is for the second year in a row violating the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty for ground-based missiles (with the air range from 500 to 5500 km).
  • In Turkey the party of acting President Erdogan wins the parliamentary elections, but will not get a majority in the Majlis. A new Kurdish party got to the parliament with unexpectedly high results.
  • According to the UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Hammond, there is no direct threat of militants attack in the Donbass yet, but Russian President Putin reserves the right for any possible scenario, including the military.
  • Russia may be deprived of the right to hold the World Cup 2018 in case the FIFA audit shows that the results were obtained due to the bribes.
  • Prime Minister of Slovakia claimed that the sanctions against Russia harm the country’s economy, and he cannot ignore the economic losses due to the breaking of the contracts with an important partner.

The Trends


  • According to some experts, the  LGBT "Equality Pride March" was a provocation and could be inspired by the authorities to justify the unwillingness to integrate into Europe, as well it could be used as a cause for repressions against the patriotic public associations.
  • President Poroshenko during his interview to foreign media reported on the process of “de-oligarchization” (elimination of oligarchs) in Ukraine. He also informed about the difficulties with the sale of the  "Roshen" company and avoided to answer the question about the sale of his major media asset - the 5 TV channel.
