Key Events in Ukraine

  • In Mukachevo clashes  with the use of small arms and grenade launchers   occurred between the fighters of the "Right Sector" and the criminal organizations that control smuggling and belong to the deputy Lanyo. During the shooting two soldiers of the "Right Sector" were killed, 10 people were wounded, including civilians and police officers. President Poroshenko ordered to punish the "criminals who organized the gunfight and killed civilians." Law enforcement agencies representatives surrounded the fighters and demanded that they surrender. The negotiations had no results. Head of the "Right Sector" Yarosh called the Interior Ministry and the SSU to conduct an independent investigation and prosecute responsible persons, including law enforcement officials, related to the organized crime, controlling the smuggling. In Kiev, near the President Administration, the "Right Sector" announced an indefinite rally, the "Right Sector" fighters are alerted all over Ukraine.
  • Finance Minister Yaresko urged the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the four laws required to obtain the loans from international financial organizations. These are the laws on the private deposits guarantees system, on the mechanisms of debt collection for the consumed natural gas, on the investigative jurisdiction of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, and on the regulation in the public utilities area.

Ukraine at War

  • Fighting with the use by the militants of heavy weapons continues in the occupied Donbass. Hostilities took place near Krymske on the "Bahmutka" route, along the Yasinovataya-Konstantinovka railway, in the surroundings of Donetsk, on the Donetsk-Mariupol highway. Provocations near Shyrokino do not stop. During the day, according to the official figures, five soldiers were injured. Observers are recording an intensive regrouping and transfer of the militants machinery to the combat line.

Ukraine and the World

  • Malaysian Prime Minister claimed that a detailed investigation of the causes of the disaster happened to the flight MH-17airliner continues, the investigation will soon name the persons guilty of the tragedy, the report will be published in October.
  • In Brussels, European lenders held talks on the proposals of the Greek Government on the resolution of the financial crisis, but the decision was taken, and the talks will continue on Sunday. Europe declares that the scenario of the Greek exit from the Eurozone is worked out, but it hopes that the crisis will be resolved.

The Trends

  • At the checkpoint to the occupied area on the Donetsk-Mariupol highway the actions of Ukrainian security officials led to appearence of the huge queue of cars, people were staying in queques for up to two days, with the outside temperature being over 30 degrees. More than 200 outraged citizens came to the checkpoint. The military did not dare to use the weapons, but the situation is heating up every day. Chairman of the Donetsk regional military-civilian administration Zhebrivskyi promises to move the checkpoint to a different location to increase its capacity. He again promised to build "logistics centers" between the combat zone and the checkpoints where people will be able to buy essential goods. Experts believe that this is done in order to get the full control over the trade and financial flows in the occupied territories and to obtain the excessive profits from the sale of goods and products at inflated prices.
