  • The President hold an extended press conference on the results of the first year of his ruling.
    Poroshenko sees no reason for the dismissal of the prime minister, however, believes that the government needs to speed up reforms. Conclusions on the performance of Ministers will be decided by the Verkhovna Rada, which can reformat the Cabinet during the autumn, provided the format of the coalition will be the same. The President ruled out the possibility of holding early parliamentary elections.
    Poroshenko called party coalition unite for the parliamentary elections, as the contestation between parties can be costly for Ukraine.
    He said that the National Bank should be independent regulator, even from the president. To prosecute the owners of the banks Parliament need adopt a law on the bank-related persons proposed by him.
    Poroshenko promised that Verkhovna Rada will pass a law requiring disclosure of ultimate owners of a non-transparent funded media for possible prosecution due to spreading of false information.
    According to him, the return of the Crimea over the next year is impossible. He once again announced the preparation of sanctions against entities of the Russian Federation and developing the concept of the return of the Crimea. The government is preparing a lawsuit to Russia in international courts for the protection of property and to ensure accountability for the annexation of the peninsula.
    Poroshenko has denied the existence of secret agreements with the oligarch Firtash. He gave reporters a confidential political agreement with the party "Punch" and its leader Klitschko.
    In the near future the President once again intends to make an attempt to sell his company "Roshen", until that time he is ready to pass its management to the trust management of the Rothschilds.
    He informed the participants of the press conference on the situation in the Donets Basin and along the eastern border and stated that the danger of a full-scale invasion by Russia still exist. Poroshenko promised to prevent a referendum on the separation of Donbass, but did not rule out the possibility of holding a referendum on its status in the Ukraine. He said that the expansion of local self governing would require changes to the Constitution, for which there is an appropriate procedure.
  • The Cabinet of Ministers asked the President to dismiss the head of the Donetsk military-civilian administration Kikhtenko due to the unsatisfactory performance of duties. Kikhtenko said that dissatisfied with the discipline in the army where drunkenness and looting are common. He does not think that the blockade of DPR and LPR is effective.

  • The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) does not intend to reduce financing of infrastructure projects in Ukraine due to the war with the main part of the planned €1,2 billion funds will be transferred in the second half of the year.
  • President Putin said that Russia is not going to attack the NATO countries, but "forced" to respond to existing threats. He chided the EU of ignoring the interests of Russia.
  • The UN Security Council discussed the worsening situation in the Donbass region in connection with the onset of militancy in Mar’inka. The members of the Security Council noted the violation of Minsk Agreement by Russia.
