Yanukovych is no longer a president of Ukraine. The right to judge Russia, Putin and  Donbass  terrorists transferred to the International Criminal Court in Hague. Hryvnia continues to fall. West wants to set a ceasefire in Debaltseve as soon as possible. Militants are systematically destroying Donetsk and killing its inhabitants.

Key Events In Ukraine

  • Verkhovna Rada ratified an agreement with the EU to reform the law enforcement system. This will enable Europe to provide direct advice without issuing permits.
    The Parliament accepts the jurisdiction of the Hague International Criminal Court and deprived Yanukovych the title of President.
  • Naftogaz paid in addition more than $100 million to Gazprom for gas deliveries in February. More than 700 million m3 of natural gas will be pumped from Russia in a month. Ukraine is already buying in Europe up to ⅔ of all gas. Prime Minister Yatseniuk expects a sharp decline in gas prices due to falling oil prices on the international markets.
  • General Staff stated that a certificate from the recruiting office is not needed to leave the country until the parliament will adopt appropriate law.
  • The cost of planting season in the country will rise 1.5 times due to the depreciation of the hryvnia, rising fuel prices, equipment and seeds. The country has the necessary resources, but the agricultural producers can not afford to planting season which may lead to its failure.
  • NBU appointed a temporary administration in the bank "Nadra", owned by oligarch Firtash.
  • Hryvnia continues to fall on the interbank market. The official exchange rate: 16.73 UAH / USD (+0.49 UAH), 19.03 UAH/EUR (+0,66 UAH) 2.49 UAH / 10 RUR (+0.16 UAH).

Ukraine at War

  • Russian forces reinforcing units which have suffered losses in manpower and equipment in the fighting on the Debaltseve foothold using railways via the nodal station Illovaysk. Battles for Uglegorsk continue. The city is almost destroyed. The fighting did not stop along the line of contact, but the intensity of the shelling decreased due to the large amount of ammunitions used by militants and Russian army units during the fighting last week.
  • NATO officials say that the Russian military in Ukraine coordinate militants and mercenary fighters and manage complex military equipment. Russia is still trying to mask the presence of their regular military units in Ukraine.
  • Further evacuations of people from areas of active hostilities is taking place, but the number of remaining residents is still very large. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the random shelling of heavily populated areas of Donbass and called for a ceasefire in the area Debaltseve to evacuate civilians. OSCE monitors ready to assist in the creation of a humanitarian corridor and ceasefire during the evacuation. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry supports the demand of the OSCE to declare a truce.
  • During random shelling of residential areas in Donetsk continued by militants from cannon artillery, mortars and MLRS numerous civilian casualties and destruction were documented.
  • "Kyivstar" GSM disabled mobile communications in the combat zone.

Ukraine and the World

  • The EU has developed a new energy strategy, which envisages the creation of a single European energy system and coordinated policy of countries - EU members in respect of of energy that will protect the energy market of the EU from Russian influence. The new strategy will be adopted on February 25.
  • International rating agency Standard & Poor's downgraded the ratings of the largest Russian companies, including "Gazprom", "Rosneft", "Transneft", Russian Railways, "Rossetti" and FGC, to speculative grade BB + with a negative outlook.

  • Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Shimkiv reported on the progress of reforms, and said that they are in full swing, just nobody sees their results yet.
