A “Night of Remembrance” was held last night on Maydan – The Independence Square where a year ago police have attacked a peaceful student protest. The “Truce” continues with fierce fighting for the Donetsk airport.

In Ukraine

  • President Poroshenko has approved a new composition of the Commission on citizenship issues. Head of the Presidential Administration Lozhkin will become the new Chairman of the Commission, and his deputy will be Deputy Chief of Staff Rainin.
  • State Affairs Department transfers 57 cars to be sent to the war zone. Another 150 cars will be sold through the State Property Fund. In addition, there are plans to sell most of the installations and facilities this department manages through the Foundation.
  • Parliamentary factions in the Verkhovna Rada have divided Rada’s committee seats.
  • Accoridng to Kiev's Mayor Klitschko, his party "Udar" will go to the local elections separately from the "Poroshenko Block".

Kyiv

  • In order to bring tariffs for public transportation to an "economically justified" level, Kyiv authorities announced a doubling of public transportation fares.
  • On the anniversary of a peaceful student protest being suppressed by "Berkut" with a not seen before level of brutality, students and their supporters held a “Night of Remembrance” on the Independence Square, which will end with the morning prayer service in St. Michael's Cathedral.

War in Ukraine

  • According to the UN, the number of refugees and displaced persons from the war zone in the Donbas reached 1 million.
  • DPR “authorities" announced the creation of a "Pension Fund" and payments in the amount of 900-1000 UAH per person. Internet is flooded with images of counterfeit notes, which were given out by militants as pensions.
  • Terrorists captured Ukrainian passport blanks. Provocations are expected with legalized Russian mercenaries.
  • Fierce fighting continues for the Donetsk airport. Ukrainian troops have suffered casualties
  • There is a number of killed and wounded amongst the residents оf villages Popasna and Stanica Luganska as a result of heavy shelling.
  • Law enforcement agencies and the military personnel are continually detaining subversive enemy groups trained in camps organized by the FSB and the Russian GRU, throughout Ukraine.

International

  • Secretary General of the European Council Jagland allows for the possibility of a new Cold War between the West and Russia. To avoid it, it is necessary to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
  • US Deputy Defense Secretary Wark believes that the greatest challenges to global security in the coming years will come from Russia and China, which have nuclear weapons and are permanent members of the UN Security Council.

Trends


  • Another scandal surrounds a Pechersk court judge, who unfroze accounts of ex-premier Arbuzov. Inactivity of the prosecution shows a systemic crisis and the need for a complete restructuring of the law enforcement system.
  • Report, summarizing activity of the retired former Yatsenuk's Government, was a formality. No conclusions were drawn on the results of its activities .
