Luhansk is at the edge of humanitarian and ecological catastrophe after terrorists' attacks

Ukraine

  • General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine is working on the project of the Law on In Absentia Denunciation of crime suspects within the criminal proceedings, that will allow to return to Ukraine significant amounts of assets, stolen by officials from Yanukovych regime, and allow include some individuals to the Interpol investigation database.
  • General Prosecutor Yarema said at the briefing that strong reorganization have been conducted within the agency and ¾ of central office cadres have been renewed, but tipping point haven’t yet occurred.
  • According to experts, many of those who served under the Yanukovych regime came back, as well as unexperienced in the prosecutor's office job have been appointed.
  • Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, through Russia's ambassador to Ukraine Zurabov, summoned for questioning and announced under suspicion of "the organization and financing of illegal armed groups" against Russian citizens Zyuganov, Mironov, Zhirinovsky, Defense Minister Shoigu billionaire Malofeeva.

Kyiv

  • Maidan activists allowed to move one of their tents to Khreschatyk, moving people into the center of the square, they also announced the release of Ukrainian house, where exhibition of helmets will be opened on August 3. During the events on Maidan helmets had been painted by professional artists and could be considered as pieces of art. However, activists are not considering full release of the captured buildings and leaving with Maidana activists, despite the threats voiced by Attorney General Yarema. Next Veche is scheduled for Sunday.

War in Ukraine

  • Ukrainian troops fought protracted battles for Shakhtarsk and Pervomais'k. Luhansk airport was several times was shelled by terrorists with multiple missile launchers "Grad" and tanks. Large column of armored vehicles moving from the Russian border was destroyed by Ukrainian paratroopers from the ambush near Luhansk.
  • Donetsk and Gorlovka were encircled by Ukrainian army, on the  from the north-western direction battles were fought in Staromihaylovka, Krasnogorovka, Marinka. As electricity distribution station was hit, southern part of Donetsk is cut from electricity and analogue TV broadcasting. Terrorists released from Donetsk detention centre, prisoners accused of terrorism and provided them them weapons. Luhansk facing extreme heat without electricity supply for two days - being on the brink of environmental and humanitarian catastrophe, water supply is turned off, no lighting, mobile phones and the Internet aren’t working, products in stores are souring, leaving the city is difficult, supply of goods and products stopped. Shooting and shelling are ongoing in cities, civilians casualties grow fast but number of victims is not being reported. Hundreds of civilians killed and thousands injured since terrorists seized power in the region. Terrorists admitted facts of shootings in Slovyansk on charges of looting.
  • International experts, who arrived at the crash site of MH17 flight, found bodies of the passengers, recorded looting by militants and were attacked by terrorists. The mission will continue.
  • In Donetsk bandits looted the warehouse of the only operational within the occupied territory auto carrier «Delivery». All goods were stolen. Terrorist leader Girkin, self-declared as "Defense Minister of Donetsk People Republic», issued an order allowing to seize the property of citizens and businesses.
  • Due to the ban on import of several products store shelves are now empty in the Crimea. Ukrainian retailers operating in Crimea are forced to re-register under Russian law, but will have problems with the law in Ukraine and getting accounts receivables back from Russia.
  • Russian aviation again repeatedly violated the airspace of Ukraine. Ukrainian pilots preempted Russian fighter jets to reach the crash site zone of MH17 flight, where international experts have been working.

International


  • State-sanctioned, nationalist rally in support of “Novo Russia” took place in Moscow, demanding President Putin to invade the Ukraine. One of the slogans, the protesters have dubbed «Strelkov - for president of Russia.»
  • March for the federalization of Siberia "Siberian march» is announced to be held on August 17 in Novosibirsk, aiming to create the Siberian autonomous republic within Russia. Russian Prosecutor General's Office and State Media Watchdog Roscomnadzor are removing all news about the march in the media and block initiatives and activists groups in social networks Vkontakte and Facebook.
  • 2% of Moldova's population used the right of visa-free visits to EU on biometric passports during last 3 months.
  • Tbilisi court in absentia arrested ex-president Saakashvili, ex-Minister of Justice Adeishvili and former Defense Minister Kezerashvili on charges of abuse of office.
