War in Ukraine
  • Malaysian Airlines plane have been shot down by terrorists near Torez in Donetsk region with SA missile system "Buk", as confirmed by numerous photographs, audio and video evidence. 298 passengers, including 80 children, and crew killed. Armed terrorists prevent international experts to work on at the crash site, collecting bodies and evidence by themselves for further transfer to Moscow. Local population and terrorists are engaged in looting, removing valuables from dead bodies, collecting cash and credit cards. Attempts of cash withdrawal from victims credit cards have been spotted. Only 251 dead bodies have been found by militants, loaded to refrigerators for further transportation to Donetsk. International community strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate and comprehensive investigation of the accident, and punishment of those responsible. President of Ukraine Petro O. Poroshenko appealed to the UN for recognition of DPR and LPR as international terrorist organizations.
  • Civilian casualties from shelling in Luhansk reached 250 killed, as reported by OSCE based on information from local doctors.
  • Ukrainian military aircraft AN-26 with 8 persons on board shot down with missile by terrorists near Luhansk. Two military were killed, others rescued.
  • Russian fighter jet, approaching from territory of Russia, shot down Ukrainian SU-25 jet during a combat mission in Donetsk region.
  • Stream of armored vehicles, weapons, ammunition and mercenaries infiltrates through the part of Ukrainian-Russian border,  non-controlled by Ukrainian border guards. Terrorists acquire more powerful weapons, including multiple rocket launchers "Grad", tanks, self-propelled artillery and SA anti-aircraft missiles.
  • Terrorists continuously shelled Ukrainian military, created civilian corridor along the border, with artillery and multiple missile launchers "Grad" with combat support from the Russian territory.
  • Ukrainian military gradually advanced deeper into territory controlled by terrorists and mercenaries from Russia, unblocking Donetsk and Luhansk international airports.
  • Ex-mayor of Sloviansk Shtepa and Secretary of City Council Samsonov were detained for aiding terrorists.

Economy
  • IMF mission completed its work in Ukraine, resulting in decision to allocate next tranche of stand-by credit in August. IMF as well lowered its forecast of the Ukrainian economy, related with combat operations in the east.
  • Exchange rate of Ukrainian Hryvnia slightly strengthened. Interbank trading volumes are still marginal.
  • Mining and metallurgical assets of Akhmetov and Novinsky finally merged in "Metinvest". Novinsky possesses blocking stake and the right of directorate to appointment.
  • SCM moved headquarters of its companies from Donetsk to Kiev, Zaporizhya, Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlograd.
  • Interest rate increased to a record high level of 12.5%.

Politics
  • More than 20 anonymous calls of TV channels, subway stations, railway stations and shopping centers mining, received during the week in Kiev. City mayor Klitschko claims this is being done to disorient, disorganize and disperse city administration efforts. Civil defense office have been created, to counter these threats.
  • Maidan activists released the center of Kiev, as well as several administrative buildings, but doesn’t consider dismantling of barricades and release of the rest of controlled buildings.
  • Ukrainian Consul finally succeeded to meet Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko after enormous multilateral efforts. She had been kidnapped by terrorists in Luhansk and illegally moved and detained at the Russian territory. Court of Voronezh left her in custody on charges of complicity in the murder of Russian journalists.
  • German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been forced to apologize to the "Danke Frau Ribbentrop" campaign, launched by Ukrainians on her official Facebook page in response to her suggestion to negotiate with terrorists, murderers and mercenaries from Russia.
  • United States imposed broader sanctions against major Russian companies - Rosneft, Novatek, Gazprombank, Vnesheconombank, a number of enterprises of the military-industrial complex and citizens involved in the aggression against Ukraine.
