Ukraine 

  • Northern part of Donetsk region is steadily coming back to normal life. Pensions payments have been re-started, broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels – renewed, railway communication re-launched by Ukrzaliznytsya via Krasnyj Lyman and Slovyansk. Humanitarian aid being distributed to Slovyansk residents.
  • Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) opened a criminal case against advisor to Mr. Putin, Mr. Glazyev for public calls on escalation of military conflict and annexation of Ukrainian territories, joining the cases of Mr. Tsaryov and other terrorist collaborators, as reported by SBU Chief Mr. Nalyvaychenko in a briefing. 
  • Thousands of people attended the sorrow ceremony on deceased Archbishop Vladimir, held in Lavra yesterday. Archbishop will be buried at Lavra cemetery. Russian Archbishop Kirill didn’t attend the event “to avoid provocations”. Elections of new Archbishop of Ukraine will be held in the nearest future.

Kyiv

  • Shooting, carried out by unidentified masked subjects, took place on n Independence Square in Kiev during attempts to dismantle the tents camp stationed there. Public convention (Viche), carried on Maidan Square on Sunday, decided to stay there and stressed that Self-defense groups ready to move to Kyiv fortress, doesn’t represent the Maidan.

War in Ukraine

  • In the interview to "Ukraine" TV channel, its owner, billionaire Rinat Akhmetov, proclaimed that Donetsk and Donbass shouldn’t be bombed and instead negotiations should be pursued. He also confirmed that he sees Donbass only as a part of united Ukraine however he did not specify who should be the one to negotiate with.
  • Fights are ongoing in the central Donbass. Terrorists fully control Donetsk, Makiyivka, Gorlivka, Snizhne, Krasnodon, Debalceve and Lugansk. Two tanks, previously fired at Lugansk airport, have been destroyed. Civilian casualties have been reported as the result of terrorists shelling from multiple rocket launchers “Grad” and mine throwers on residential areas of Lugansk and oblast. Terrorists use tanks under the Ukrainian flag, but without tactical markings used by Ukrainian Armed Forces, reported by the head of the center "Information resistance" Mr. Tymchuk. Terrorists abandoned lots of arms, ammunition and protection items while fleeing from Slovyanks. Columns of armed terrorists moved to Donetsk and were hosted in the student’s dormitories of local Universities by local authorities. Clashes with terrorists took place westwards of Donetsk, near Karlivka and Pesky villages, as well as near the airport. 
  • Manifestation of Donetsk People Republic (DPR) took place at Lenin Square in Donetsk but have been accused of being illegal by the mayor of Donetsk Mr. Lukyanchenko. Self-proclaimed head of DPR state Mr. Pushilin, went on stage calling for war with Ukraine. Around 2 000 attendees were present there under DPR flags.

Ukraine and the World affairs

  • Consecutive meeting on resolution of the conflict in eastern Ukraine was held between representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE. Apart of the date of the next consultations, no further decisions were taken. OSCE task force called for urgent resolution to the crisis. 
  • Ukraine officially closed ports in Crimea for foreign ships. This decision have been stated in respective order of the Ministry of Infrastructure, issued in accordance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers. From now on serious negative consequences will apply to ships attempting to enter ports of Yalta, Sevastopol, Feodosia, Evpatoriya and Kerch.
